The AVR-X3700H develops 9 × 180 Watts. It preserves the facade of the X2700H and supports 8K, support 4k, dolby atmos and dts:x. You get an extra HDMI input and output, but you lose the tuner. The Audyssey is updated to the XT32 version and the IMAX Enhanced makes its appearance. The pre-out outputs appear with the possibility of managing up to 11.2 channels. The preamp mode previously available only on the AVC-X8500H leaves the ability to completely mute the internal amplifier channels when using these preamp outputs. As with other Denon AV receivers, there are classic analog power amplifiers with 180 watts per channel in the neat interior of the AVR-X3700H. The pre-stage can even process a maximum of 11.2 channels. This means: with an additional stereo power amplifier you can even use 7.2.4 setups, for example.

For moviegoers who want to pay more for a higher quality and more immersive home theater experience, we recommend the Denon AVR-X3700H. This receiver sounds better than the under $ 1,000 models we tested, thanks in large part to its more advanced Audyssey MultEQ XT32 room correction. The 9.2-channel AVR-X3700H includes two additional amplifier channels that you can use to drive more height channels or a pair of speakers in a separate audio zone. It also has more HDMI inputs, eight in total, but only one is fully HDMI 2.1 compliant. This receiver offers some HDMI 2.1 features that the Yamaha RX-V6A currently lacks (although, again, there are some caveats that we will discuss below). It also has an improved user interface with sharper graphics, as well as better multi-room capabilities to send audiovisual signals to your home. But that’s a huge price increase over our other picks.

The flagship of the nine-channel model with its classic Denon design is the HDMI section, which is fully 8K compliant. This also includes a dedicated 8K HDMI terminal. The “worry-free 8K package” is complete: it includes support for 8K / 60Hz as well as 4K / 120Hz (high frame rate). Furthermore, all relevant HDR formats are supported: HDR10, including HDR10 +, HLG and Dolby Vision. There are also other HDMI functions such as QMS (Quick Media Switch. This function allows you to switch between different resolutions and refresh rates without seeing a black screen in between. These functions make the X3700H a super AV control center. Streaming options Flexible, it has a powerful HEOS module, which makes it an overall great model for its quality and price.

The Denon AVR-X2700H is several different things at once. Priced well under $ 1,000, this is an entry-level home theater receiver. But it is more than that; Armed with 4K 120Hz input and 8K 60Hz input, this is a future-proof, high-performance receiver well above its price range. And it’s geared toward gamers too, making it a great option for those who bring home a PS5 or Xbox Series X.

For most users, 95 watts per channel is probably fine, although larger speaker setups can push this receiver to its limits. However, you can configure it for a variety of surround sound arrangements, including 5.2 and 5.2.2. It is also compatible with Heos, allowing you to set up multi-room speakers and control a whole house audio system from this receiver.

Denon has led it in the category of home theater receivers for the past several years. Having managed to continue its five-star tradition with its 2020 X Series AVRs in the upper and middle section of the market, it’s time to turn to the company’s entry-level AVR, the Denon AVR-X2700H. On paper, the notable addition over its predecessor is the support 8k / 60Hz HDMI 2.1 input, which can also go through 4K 120Hz video, paving the way for the potential demands of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox series. X. There may only be one HDMI 2.1 certified input, but the other five were not ignored. All are compatible with Variable Refresh Rate Lag Reduction (VRR), Quick Frame Transport (QFT) and Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM) technologies to meet the demands of next-generation content.

They can also cope with the full range of HDR standards, with HDR10 +, HDR10, HLG, and Dolby Vision all represented. The two HDMI outputs are also 2.1 certified, so those lucky enough to have a TV and projector in their system will be able to send them in 8K @ 60Hz and 4K @ 120Hz. EARC (Enhanced Audio Return Channel) is also supported. However, ruling out the extras on this year’s model as only intended for gamers would be a mistake. Every year Denon engineers change their AVR components and the firmware that runs them for an even higher class of sound, and 2020 is no different.

If you’ve been a long-time Denon fan, you’re probably familiar with the standard Denon swing-out door at the front that gives you access to the multitude of receiver controls. You will not find this here on the X2700H. It’s probably not a huge loss for most people, but it does mean you’ll have to consult the remote for just about everything except for changing sources and adjusting the volume. On the other hand, Denon has found a way to package this receiver with a wide range of features, from support for Dolby Atmos, DTS: X and DTS Virtual: X to cloud services like Spotify and Tidal to voice control with Google, Alexa and Siri. .

Denon’s AVR-S750H offers everything most home theater fans want and need, but it lacks some of the newer features that may be important to gamers and 8K TV owners. This receiver has seven channels of speaker amplification with Dolby Atmos and DTS: X decoding, as well as full streaming support including Bluetooth, AirPlay 2, and Heos (the Denon Multiroom wireless streaming platform). Its six HDMI inputs support many of the most attractive features of the HDMI 2.1 standard, including eARC (for better sound from your TV) and low latency auto mode (which allows devices to automatically detect and switch to the best mode for gaming) . But it doesn’t support other gaming-grade HDMI 2.1 features, such as variable refresh rate and the ability to output 4K video at 120 Hz. What we like best about the AVR-S750H are the small details, such as the simple and clear display. onscreen. Automatic HDMI source names and menus for easy setup and use, so everyone can get great performance. even if they have never used a receiver before.

This is where Denon’s performance improvements are felt the most, not surprising given the changes to its physical build, but, as is often the case, the company’s tweaks and modifications have led to notable gains elsewhere as well. This includes dynamics, where the AVR-X3600H approaches its most beloved siblings, combining its talent for finding the finest points of expression with a mature, textured presentation.

Even Denon’s integration of this high-end Dolby Atmos virtualization technology is impressive. While this is not compared to using dedicated height speakers, there is an opening to the soundstage. Without losing too much focus, one of the company’s strengths in its line of AV amplifiers, the AVR-X3600H gives the impression of a more three-dimensional sound field. We prefer to let the amp focus on the physical channels you have connected to it, but with some units we can imagine Virtual Atmos will work just fine.
