Some people could claim that the rock genre is “dead,” although those claims may originate from youngsters who haven’t lived through the genre’s early heyday. If you enjoy rock music as much as I do, you’ll need a nice set of headphones to get the most enjoyment out of it. And to save you time, I have compiled a list of the top rock music headphones in my opinion.
Rock music primarily emphasizes percussion, heavy bass, vocals, and guitar solos. Thankfully, such features are present on my list of the top rock headphones. The headphones I listed will provide the best experience for all of the aforementioned genres, whether it be classic rock like Pink Floyd, Metallica, Aerosmith, Bon Jovi, Nirvana, or rap-rock like Linkin Park, or even Alternative Rock, also known as modern rock in the 2000s period, e.g. Greenday, Coldplay, Blink 182, etc.

As good a place as any to start is by taking a look at the Crossfade 2 from V-Mod. V-Moda is renowned for producing excellent headphones, but they also have a unique design, particularly with their hexagon-shaped earcups. However, they are also renowned for coming with a ton of features that set them apart from the competition. The ear cups are fairly small and might not suit everyone, despite the attractive design. However, they have fantastic padding in the form of ear cups made of synthetic leather and foam. The same style of fitting is used for the headband. foam-filled synthetic coating over a steel frame. extremely adaptable and pleasant.
In order to store them, there is also a steel-based hinged folding design. excellent materials and fittings throughout. They use aptX to achieve a respectable Bluetooth connection. This is an improvement over the standard, however it currently lags below aptX HD. On the top of the phones are all the controls for sound management. A slider and three buttons are present. You have complete control over connections and sound thanks to them.
They are ideal for fans of bass that builds the sound rather than blowing your mind out. In addition, the mids are distinct and well-defined. Although the bass is present, the mids are not completely overpowered. The upper end has style but occasionally leans toward being strident. However, that is advantageous for metal. This may be the best way to describe it—it lets you know it’s there. excellent sound, comfortable, and well-made with high-quality materials.
They will only provide you 14 hours of battery life, which is not as long as some modern devices these days. If that’s not a concern, these are a fantastic investment. They are a tempting alternative and unquestionably among the Best Headphones for Rock and Metal Music available because of their reasonable price.
Sony WH-1000XM4 Wireless Industry Leading Noise Canceling Overhead Headphones
- ACTIVE NOISE CANCELLATION: Premium noise canceling with Dual Noise Sensor...
- LONG BATTERY LIFE: Up to 30-hour battery life with quick charging (10 min...
- TOUCH SENSOR CONTROLS: Pause play skip tracks, control volume, activate...
The WH-1000XM4 has won Sony numerous honors in the ANC aspect, and as a result, when you think of ANC, you begin to picture the XM4’s. This is what prompted me to put the XM4 as the best ANC ones. They contain a ton of other cool features than ANC, which encourages me to claim with certainty that they are some of the best wireless headphones ever made.
The XM4 is the replacement for the well-known XM3, whose launch crushed the competition. Since it is the younger brother of the XM3, it regrettably shares a lot of similarities with that model’s design, making it likely that errors would occur if the two were placed side by side. Sony made a few modifications, but it didn’t take the approach of “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” In comparison to the XM3, the earcups and headband cushion are both a little bit smaller, while the earbuds are a little bit larger. According to Sony, these modifications made the XM4 a little more comfortable.
The 1000XM4s come in black, white, and blue, are well-made, and have a soft-touch matte texture that is both stylish and comfortable to the touch. Also very convenient is the portability of the headphones. They can tilt and rotate for simple storage and transit, and they only weigh 1 pound. The centerpiece of XM4 and the main attraction here must be its eerie ANC (Active Noise Cancelling).
In the XM4, Sony incorporated some of the best ANC presently on the market. People frequently refer to it as the Bose ANC killer, which is another reason I decided to label them as Best ANC rather than Bose even though they were still on the list.
It is not surprising that they sound good as well. They employ the identical 40mm full-range drivers that we have previously seen. The best control and profound detail are found in the low frequencies. However, it is pleasant and at ease with all different frequencies; the bass is equally effective in the midrange. It is just as good. You’ll have the impression that the vocalist is physically present when you hear the vocals.
They become a must-have if you want a pair of wireless headphones for listening to rock music because of their balanced sound quality and the ANC. These are the Best Headphones for Rock in 2023.

One of the most well-known headphone manufacturers is Audio-Technica. They were established in Tokyo in 1962 and work on all levels of audio equipment design and production. The Audio-Technica ATH-M60X is a very good pair of headphones in this category.
They feature an on-ear, closed-back design. They are made of sturdy plastic, but important parts are metal. As a result, they are highly sturdy and stable. Memory foam is used to make the headband and earpads, which greatly increases their level of comfort. The fit is excellent and significantly reduces outside noise. Because the earpads are detachable, replacing them is simple.
Each cup’s 45mm drivers produce loud sound across a broad frequency range. Any headphone output will have a high gain thanks to the low-impedance construction. These are essentially monitors designed for studio or broadcast work and are made to be used continuously. They are designed to be extremely flexible and comfy for this purpose. Additionally, they offer a sound that is pretty balanced, highly precise, and lacks a raised top or bottom.
They include three different interchangeable cables, a screw-on adaptor, and a carrying pouch. A good pair of well-made headphones that perform like a monitor. They are definitely worth a look because of the reasonable pricing.
Symphonized Wraith 2.0 Bluetooth Genuine Wood Wireless Headphones
These headphones weren’t made just for listening to rock or metal. However, the audio quality is sufficient to provide a satisfying listening experience. They are perfect for playing music from your phone or tablet and are Bluetooth 2.0 compliant. They work with iOS and Android devices. The inline microphone that is built into the device can be used for hands-free calling and control. With the help of the controller, you may pause, play, change the volume, and accept or reject calls. If you want, an aux connection is included for wired use.
They are flexible and long-lasting due to their sturdy aluminum construction. The interior of the headband is softly padded and completely adjustable. They are rather comfortable, but what truly sets them apart are the high-quality metal fittings and adjustments. The earcups, however, are where we discover “something entirely distinct.” They have a sturdy wood fitting on the outside, yet being soft and well-padded inside. You certainly don’t see that every day, though!
They have a lovely design, and the raw wood gives them a chic appearance. Wood has some acoustical benefits that help the lower frequencies, therefore it is often used in construction.
They provide a respectable response with a frequency range of 18 Hz to 22 kHz. Each earcup’s 40mm drivers produce a decent sound with a sizable amount of bass. The earcups’ natural wood may be to blame for this. They offer a good sound and a well-padded headband and earcups that make them very comfortable.
For individuals on a tight budget, they are a viable option at the price point.

- 250 ohms, 45 mm dynamic Tesla neodymium drivers
- Single sided, detachable cable with mini-XLR connectors
Let’s chat about the excruciatingly amazing Beyerdynamic DT 1990 Pro while we’re on the subject of balance. A true audiophile’s dream. These open-back puppies with a 250 Ohm impedance were created for sound engineers. Buy these if you have an amp and want to be amazed by accuracy. They are among my favorite pairs of headphones. The lows, mids, and highs are so flawlessly balanced that the mix sounds incredibly rich. The separation and clarity are even more astounding. And the expansive imaging is accurate. It has a clear, smooth tone that works well in practically every genre, not just rock.
Consider the song Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd. A radio changing stations marks the start of the song. You can feel the width of the soundstage and the imaging’s accuracy while listening to it from a distance. The acoustic guitar enters with a few sharp picks that exhibit ludicrously intricate texture. It gives the impression that you are seeing a live guitar player. When the vocals enter, that same intimacy is immediately noticeable. You’ll sincerely believe that you are in a recording studio. The music is utterly delicious as the chorus enters. Nothing is missing, and none of the instruments blend into one another. separation—three times—is separation. Man, I just can’t believe how fantastic these are after listening to them again.
