Best Soundbases 2024

An entire home theatre sound system known as a SoundBase is housed inside a cabinet that is both wide and deep but not particularly tall. A SoundBase is typically placed on a piece of furniture, and then a TV is placed on top of the SoundBase. The SoundBase design offers a stylish substitute for mounting one’s TV and audio system on the wall. Larger speakers can fit inside the conventional SoundBase since they have a lot of internal space due to their wide (24″ – 42″) and deep (11.5″ – 16.5″) dimensions. This is not the case with soundbars.

In the audio industry, soundbases don’t frequently receive a lot of respect. Huge tower speakers, home cinema systems with many features, and modern soundbars dominate this scene. Because soundbases don’t necessarily have a hot aesthetic, they don’t always sell as well as other audio gear. We find this unfortunate because a solid soundbase may be just as potent and enjoyable to listen to as any other audio component and is frequently more diverse because of its size.

If you want to create a Sonos home system, Sonos Playbase is a stylish soundbase that complements decor. The popular Sonos Playbar is replaced with this sound base, which has some new and updated capabilities. This all-in-one speaker is one of the greatest soundbases now on the market because of its deep bass, simplicity of use, and robust platform for your TV. You may also link the Playbase to any Alexa device for voice control to further increase this convenience.

Sonos is the original multi-room champion with this soundbase, a few soundbars, and multi-room speakers. So, in addition to getting better sound from your TV, you also get all the clever streaming features offered by Sonos, the ability to connect to a multi-room system with ease, and the ability to upgrade to a full 5.1 system by adding a Sonos Sub and two Sonos Ones, Sonos One SLs, Sonos Play:1s (or even Play:3 or Play:5) speakers. TVs up to 35 kg can be supported by the sturdy Playbase. Sonically, the performance is powerful, energetic, and fairly detailed, with just a sporadic harsh treble raising our eyebrows. The Playbase is available in both black and white and has a transparent matte finish on its case. Ten amplified speaker drivers are housed inside the vehicle’s engine to make sure that you never miss out on any conversations or even the tiniest whispers.

The Playbase can be set up in just a few minutes using the Sonos app, which is available for iOS and Android. The app also enables you to add more than 80 music streaming services, including Spotify, Soundcloud, YouTube, and Google Play Music. Additionally, you may use Apple AirPlay 2 to play music straight from your iPhone or iPad. This is the Best Soundbase in 2023.

The ZVOX SoundBase 670 weighs a hefty 26 pounds, making it strong enough to support the weight of your TV. Three internal speakers in the enormous soundbase provide you access to many sound channels. These speakers also provide superb speech reproduction, and the integrated AccuVoice feature uses cutting-edge hearing aid technology to produce dialogue that is incredibly clear.

Due to its short height of just 3.5″, the Soundbase 670 blends in well with your TV and doesn’t stand out. The biggest feature of this TV soundbase with subwoofers is that it provides 3D sound without requiring additional speakers to be installed throughout the space.

The device’s aptX Bluetooth wireless connectivity makes pairing with your phone or tablet possible, and installation is quick and simple. Many helpful buttons are included on the multipurpose remote, including the O/L (Output Leveling) button, which instantly mutes the noisy TV ads. The low-profile wooden cabinet that houses the SoundBase 670 combines simplicity and elegance.

  • Works well with most TVs up to 55" in size (TV pedestal/feet should be 27"...
  • AccuVoice feature uses hearing aid technology for super-clear dialogue...

The ZVOX Soundbase 440 contains a feature called Accuvoice that will brighten your day if you desire vocals that are crystal clear. By boosting conversation and human voice volume, you can isolate language and human voices from loud soundtracks and the normal Hollywood assault of ridiculous movie effects like explosions and car chases, for example. Six user-selectable AccuVoice modes have been created by ZVOX, and the feature is amazing. No soundbase can accomplish this, not even the pricey Sonos Playbase. Additionally included is ZVOX’s PhaseQue processing, a digital surround simulation codec in essence.

Physical connectivity is generally acceptable, although aside from the typical RCA and digital ports, HDMI and Bluetooth are absent, which could be a concern. Additionally, while using different AccuVoice modes, you might hear a “hollowing” of the lower mids, which could also alter the bass content. In our opinion, there are better soundbases for the money in this price range; one example is the Denon DHT-T110. But the ZVOX gets our vote for pure vocal clarity.

Pyle is often associated with expensive, high-quality speakers among audiophiles. With well-designed, reasonably priced products, the brand has recently almost swept the lower price levels of the A/V sector. It appears that this is the situation with their 3D soundbase, as it is difficult to estimate its $100 price from the product’s spec sheet. Although it may not be the most elegant-looking soundbase, its plastic front and four front-facing speakers and tweeters give it a less subtle and slightly cheap-feeling appearance. However, the audio and networking capabilities have received the most of the design attention, and the 3D is packed with great features.

To begin with, the estimated total wattage is roughly 300W (total/peak), which is quite significant for a soundbase. The 5.25″ woofer, which is placed at the bottom, will get a large portion of that. The strength at hand is evident, and Pyle has added a digital equalisation to aid with any potential sympathetic vibrations. Three pairs of analogue ins should be more than enough for most users, but there are also built-in FM radio, USB, a card reader, and last but not least, Bluetooth connectivity. The fairly well-designed wireless remote that is included makes choosing a source simple. With this soundbase, Pyle could have completely destroyed the internet if they had simply added an HDMI connector.

Q Acoustics M2 Soundbase with Built in Subwoofer and Bluetooth

In the realm of soundbases, HDMI connections are very uncommon, and HDMI ARC is hardly ever used. Thankfully, the Q Acoustics M2 not only provides everything but is also reasonably priced for most people. If you have a smart TV that supports direct streaming, the HDMI works nicely and lets you broadcast sound from your TV to the M2. The M2 is also a reliable base on its own. The majority of soundbases now on the market use the same basic 2.1 speaker configuration, but the Q Acoustics M2 managed to separate out from the competition by incorporating BMR (Balanced Mode Radiator) technology, which has a nearly 180 degree dispersion range.

Many listeners attempt to place their soundbase within a cabinet shelf in addition to underneath a television. Because of this, Q Acoustics has added equalisation settings that optimise the unit for each of these circumstances. Don’t anticipate miracles; the presets might not even work in your room. However, the EQ can be simply accessible from the M2’s back or the little remote that comes with the device. This puppy is more prepared than most when it comes to source choice. There are two sets of analogue inputs (RCA and 3.5mm), a digital input (Optical), a USB port (for file playing only), and a wireless Bluetooth mode with aptX in addition to the two pairs of analogue inputs (RCA and 3.5mm).
