In the year 2022, a Turtle Beach headset is a great location to start your search for one of the best gaming audio experiences available. Turtle Beach is a long-established household name across all platforms, with years of experience that has resulted in a modern, complete product line. The Stealth, Elite, Recon, and Atlas lines from Turtle Beach cover a wide range of costs and features, including support for PC, consoles (including the Nintendo Switch), and mobile devices. What’s the difference between a Turtle Beach headset and any other headset? The most significant distinction is that they were designed from the ground up to play games.
Everything from the mic to the way the speakers are calibrated to the level of comfort you can expect reflects that design mindset. After all, if you’re going to be wearing something on your head for hours on end while playing games and conversing with pals about games, it better be comfortable. Thankfully, Turtle Beach’s entire product line is really gentle on the head. You can get a very remarkable sound experience if you’re willing to spend a lot of money, but even the entry-level headsets will feel and sound great.

Their 16.6-hour continuous battery life allows for numerous long gaming sessions without the need to recharge, which is a good feature. They offer an energizing, v-shaped sound profile out of the box, with a stronger emphasis on the bass range, which helps you feel the deep thump and rumble in action-packed moments. The Turtle Beach Audio Hub companion app even has a graphic EQ and presets so you can adjust their sound profile. The recording quality of their flippable boom microphone is excellent, making it simple to converse with your friends while gaming.
The Stealth 700 Gen 2 includes a slightly toned-down aesthetic (no more bright green on the Xbox edition) and a flip-to-mute mic that folds neatly into the earcup, compared to the original headset. The control buttons have been restructured and consolidated into one earcup. The buttons are generously sized and spaced, but if you’re used to the Gen 1 Stealth 700s, you may need some time to acclimate.
The Stealth 700 Gen 2 is far more comfortable than the Stealth 600 Gen 2, which is saying a lot because the latter fit my glasses-wearing head nicely but had ear cups that started to pinch after a few hours of gaming. The Stealth 700 Gen 2’s soft memory foam cushions with Aerofit cooling gel are exceptionally comfortable, allowing you to use this headset for hours upon hours of gaming.
And these headphones sound fantastic, thanks to big speakers that provide excellent all-around sound and the Audio Hub’s ability to fine-tune the audio to your preferences. To get an advantage in online shooters, enable Superhuman Hearing mode, or turn on the bass boost for some serious rumbling during a heart-pounding campaign quest. For the price, the Turtle Beach Stealth 700 Gen 2 is an excellent headset.

The Turtle Beach Elite Atlas is a mid-range headset in price, but it outperforms it in practically every manner that matters. The product’s overall build quality is quite strong, and the restrained black-and-chrome design won’t draw quite as many curious glances as some of the more vivid plastic and LED-infused options on the market. Because of the Elite Atlas’ removable microphone, you could definitely wear it out in public without being recognized as a top player.
Despite this, this is still very much a gamer’s headset; the settings are adjusted for luxuriating in explosions and picking up adjacent footfall rather than appreciating the subtleties of a philharmonic orchestra or whatever. The Turtle Beach Elite Atlas has no pretenses, with no built-in surround sound and no amp or tuning support. It’s simply a superb gaming headset at an outstanding price.

The Turtle Beach Battle Buds are the best Turtle Beach gaming earbuds we’ve tried. If you don’t like over-ear headphones or want something more portable than usual gaming headsets, these wired earbuds are worth considering. They offer a removable boom mic for case you want to go for a more casual look. It has a good overall performance, so if you’re gaming with pals, they’ll be able to hear you clearly even if there’s background noise. They’re also really comfy and work with any device that has an AUX connector, so you can use them with an Xbox or PlayStation controller. They offer a very exaggerated bass response, similar to other Turtle each headphones, which adds extra thump, rumble, and punch to mixes, which can assist bring out sound effects in action-packed games.
Their bass-heavy sound muddies mixes and overwhelms vocals and lead instruments, making them unsuitable for games with a lot of dialogue. They’re also not particularly well-made, and the cord connecting the earphones seems flimsy. They do, however, have a good mic and are worth considering if you like earbuds for gaming.
