JL Audio 10TW3-D4 10″ 400W Dual 4 Ohm Thin-Line Component Car Subwoofer
- 10TW3-D4 - JL Audio 10" Dual 4-Ohm W3 Thin-Line Series Subwoofer
- Power Handling: RMS: 100-400 watts
- Injection molded, mica-filled polypropylene cone
JL Audio 10tw3-d4 is a fantastic premium alternative that blends superb musical sound quality with superior audio design. At this pricing point, you’d expect a high-quality design, and the JL subwoofer delivers on that front. The subwoofer features a quality, high-performance polypropylene cone that resists flexing and a tough rubber surround that can handle massive amounts of air while reproducing very powerful bass up to 400W RMS.
The concentric tube suspension design, which includes a huge coil with the magnet within, is one of our favourites. This design eliminates the need for a top plate, resulting in a more compressed depth and massive magnet response despite the small size of the subwoofer.
The 10-inch subwoofer is a winner thanks to its ultra-compact shallow mount design, which measures less than 3.5 inches and enables for easy installation in small hatchbacks and minivans. The subwoofer is built for a sealed enclosure, which maximises the powerful sound and allows you to experience the JL unit’s extremely musical bass.
The only criticism we have is that the subwoofer has a diameter of little more than 10 inches, requiring some installation changes. If you’re looking for a shallow mount subwoofer with a luxury design and audiophile-quality sound, the JL Audio 10tw3-d4 is the subwoofer for you.
Kenwood Excelon KFC-XW1200F 12in Mount Subwoofer Car
- 12" 4-Ohm shallow-mount subwoofer
- Carbon-glass fiber composite Cone with butyl rubber surround
- Cast aluminum basket
The Kenwood Excelon KFC-XW1200F is a 12 inch 4 ohm subwoofer that can produce some serious bass. A carbon glass fibre composite cone with a butyl rubber surround is held in the cast aluminium basket. In addition, the modest appearance of this Kenwood car audio subwoofer makes it a perfect addition to your vehicle.
The Kenwood Excelon KFC-XW1200F isn’t the cheapest single shallow subwoofer on the market, but as a 12″ shallow sub, it outperforms 10″ subs and only needs one to do the job of two. If you do the math, purchasing just one of these will save you more money than purchasing two less expensive options. Kenwood Excelon’s design, which incorporates carbon-glass fibre, butyl rubber, and cast aluminium, is known for its durability and manufacturing quality:
A composite cone comprised of carbon-glass fibre with a distinctive honeycomb pattern is featured on this single voice coil 12-inch subwoofer. A firm butyl rubber rim and a sturdy cast aluminium basket accompany the cone. These characteristics work together to improve subwoofer response while keeping distortion and resonance to a minimum. Plus, even when you’re pushing it to its limits, they add up to better heat dispersion.
With a sensitivity of 91 decibels, the Excelon KFC-XW1200F can deliver high volume levels with lower power ratings. The higher sensitivity gives the unit a competitive edge because it can play louder than units with lower sensitivity but higher RMS ratings. Furthermore, at this level of sensitivity, you can skip the amplifier entirely, especially if you don’t plan on pushing the sub to its limits.
The unit has silver-plated connectors that are very straightforward to use when it comes to connections. These push terminals allow excellent signal transfer and will give a wide range of bass notes while also assisting in the cooling of the machine. You don’t have to be concerned about the subwoofer’s longevity, quality, or weight.
PIONEER TS-SW2502S4 10-Inch, 1.200 Watts Shallow-Mount Subwoofer
- Pioneer 10-Inch 1200W Max Single 4-Ohm Shallow Mount Series Subwoofer
- Mica-injected resin cone
- Power range: 100-300 watts RMS (1,200 watts peak power)
The Pioneer TS-SW2502S4 is a prime example of all this brand can achieve, designed to fit – and function – where a standard, bulky subwoofer can’t.
As a result, the tiny, space-saving design, which only requires a 3.1-inch mounting depth, shouldn’t come as a surprise. The large cone construction, however, is what makes it stand out. The big cone and gasket surfaces are designed to allow the subwoofer to move more air while maintaining its exterior proportions.
The 10-inch cone is made of MICA injection-molded plastic, which, as you’ll discover later, provides a significant performance advantage. By simply moving more air, the bigger cone allows the subwoofer to blast out enormous volumes of sound and generate bass levels comparable to that of a full-sized sub. And, thanks to the improved rigidity, it can maintain precision and clarity, as well as a fair amount of depth, at all volume levels.
It also has a good frequency response range, hitting the ideal lower-end limit of 20 Hz, which is noteworthy for any subwoofer, let alone one as little as this one. Granted, it peaks at 125 Hz, but after putting it to the test, I can’t say I have any complaints.
When you factor in the 300-watt RMS power – and 1200-watt peak output – as well as the 91-dB sensitivity, you know you’re in for a real treat. It has the ability to be insanely loud if that’s your thing, and it hits hard as well.
Overall, the Pioneer TS-SW2502S4 could be a fantastic choice if you want to improve your bass game but don’t have a lot of space to work with.
JL Audio 12TW3-D4 12″ 400W Dual 4 Ohm Thin-Line Component Car Subwoofer
- 12TW3-D4 - JL Audio 12" Dual 4-Ohm W3 Thin-Line Series Subwoofer
- Power Handling: Peak: 800 watts RMS: 100-400 watts
- Mica-filled polypropylene cone
The JL Audio TW3 Shallow Series Subwoofers eliminate the need to sacrifice performance for a shallow subwoofer. This ultra-thin subwoofer is packed with cutting-edge engineering and technology to provide consumers with the best sound in the smallest possible space.
To give stereo listeners the best performing shallow subwoofer on the market, the TW3 Series Subwoofers use a combination of rugged polypropylene cones for flex-free movement, a rubber surrounding that provides long-lasting efficient movement, concentric tube technology, and a cast aluminium basket that sits only 3 1/4′′ tall.
With dimensions of 10 x 3.25 inches, it’s clear that this 10-inch sub belongs to JL Audio’s Thin-Line Series. Its mounting depth is only 3.25 inches, so it won’t take up too much room. The innovative Concentric Tube architecture, in my opinion, is the essential characteristic that gives it its exceptional compressed depth.
Aside from its ultra-shallow shape, another thing I noticed was how well-made it felt. That shouldn’t come as a surprise, as JL Audio is known for using only the highest-quality materials and components in its speakers. It can create a lot of deep and powerful bass while remaining extremely clean and crisp – which is to be expected from JL Audio’s 10-inch drivers. But what I didn’t foresee was its proclivity for rattling a few bones when pushed to the limit!
The cone’s ability to endure resonance over lengthy use, as well as its ability to move enormous amounts of air, are both amazing. It is made out of a moulded, MICA-filled polypropylene cone, a rubber surround, and a cast metal frame at its centre. The dust cap and the rear cap are both constructed of aluminium alloy and are simply “decorated” with a JL Audio logo.
Rockford Fosgate R2 Ultra Shallow 10-Inch 4 Ohm DVC Subwoofer
- Stamp-cast basket with integrated spider venting
- Mica injected polypropylene cone
- Mounting Depth 3.4 Inches ; 12 AWG compression terminals
Despite its inexpensive price, the Rockford Fosgate R2 is a powerful shallow mount subwoofer capable of outputting enough bass. Its raised motor allows it to fit into compact spaces, and it is also quite simple to install. It sits flush against the enclosure once mounted while still managing enough power. This unit is ideal for those on a budget who want to add more bass to their audio system.
The R2 from Rockford Fosgate features an anodized aluminium voice coil that aids in heat dissipation. When a voice coil heats up, the adhesive bonds can melt, resulting in a breakdown. As a result, the aluminium voice is employed as a heat sink during high SPL setups to prevent thermal build-up.
A novel linear spider is sewn with 16 AWG tinsel leads on this shallow mount sub. By minimising fatigue and dispersing stress across a larger area, stitched leads help to increase performance and dependability. This reduces the likelihood of shorting. Furthermore, it complies with CEA-2031, indicating that it is capable of safely handling the continuous power rating (RMS).
This subwoofer, like the others on our list, has a robust yet lightweight mica polypropylene cone that provides a highly responsive setup. The most significant feature is that, regardless of its size, it will push enough air to deliver the exact amount of bass you desire. It’s also worth noting that, because polypropylene is naturally resilient, this device will last even if it’s overused.
The Rockford Fosgate R2 includes integrated spider venting and a stamp-cast basket, so you won’t have any issues with a high power supply. By preventing heat build-up, this spider venting guarantees that the voice coil remains cool and effective for as long as feasible. This implies that you can achieve big volumes without risking a blowout.
The Rockford Fosgate R2 series is an economical alternative that, despite its low price, reproduces a significant amount of bass. It’s ideal for people seeking for a mid-range to low-cost unit with the purpose of expanding their audio experience. If you’re looking for a less expensive hollow mount subwoofer, look no further.
Kicker 43CWRT102 CompRT 10″ 2-Ohm Subwoofer
- CompRT 10 inch, shallow mount subwoofer
- Features 800 watts of max power and 400 watts of RMS power handling
- Rubber surround and weatherproof for outdoor use
When it comes to automobile audio, Kicker is a well-known brand. Regardless of mounting depth, this shallow mount sub is designed to give a booming low end. 43CWRT102 isn’t just for automobiles and trucks; it’s also powerful enough to be installed in motorbikes and ATVs if desired. Furthermore, the corners of their loaded enclosures are rounded for maximum volume, extra support, and beauty.
Kicker 43CWRT102 CompRT has black carpeting, allowing the device to give an exceptional level of fine-tuning. It also has a front-facing port, which improves audio performance and adds bass. This device also has connectors that can take large gauge wire, which allows the sub to draw more power.
Kicker’s proprietary cone technology, SoloKon, has been reflected in the shape of the cone. A red thread runs through the moulded cone and links it to the back brace, producing a single unit. This arrangement produces a hard surface that aids in the reduction of sound distortion. The cone is also supported in a stamped steel basket, which helps to decrease vibrations and provide more precise bass.
The 43CWRT102 has twin voice coils, indicating that it is capable of handling any duty. This device may be used for anything, from playing soft sounds on your way to work to jamming tunes for first place in a vehicle competition. Internal bracing provides additional support and strength, and when combined with the rubber surround, the subserves you for many years of rigorous use.
Kicker’s 43CWRT102 CompRT is a flexible sub that works well in both ported and sealed enclosures. The dual voice coils may be connected for a total impedance of either 1-ohm or 4-ohm, providing you plenty of mounting options. Because it is solidly built, unlike previous types, this sub can be used on a motorbike or ATV. However, because this sub’s RMS power rating is only 500 watts, you should pair it with a powerful amplifier to compensate.

As a result, the SWR-T10 produces clear, distortion-free music. If you enjoy listening to loud music, this subwoofer is an excellent choice because it can handle high volumes. The answer is a shallow mount subwoofer, which is a space-saving subwoofer that doesn’t break the windows with bass but adds some incredibly rich and deep bass beats to your car’s music. Don’t get me wrong: you’ll turn heads if you fully power this guy with the suggested 600 Watts RMS!
Alpine, one of the leading producers of automotive speakers and components, has created a subwoofer that has all of the qualities that a music lover would want in a car subwoofer. Earthquake Sound SWS-6.5X 6.5-inch Shallow Woofer System Subwoofers
- Car audio subwoofer with shallow 1-3/4" mounting depth - low-profile for placement anywhere
- Inverted style cone design for maximum excursion in shallow mount applications; Protected by 3 US Patents
- 100 Watts RMS (200 Watts MAX) with 4-Ohm impedance
Earthquake Sound Corporation, the creator of the Shallow Woofer System, is an ideal choice for replacing OEM automobile speakers. This model comes in a 6.5-inch size, although various sizes are available to match different car models. These subwoofers are low-profile and can be mounted anywhere in the vehicle thanks to their 1.75-inch mounting depth.
With a 4-ohm impedance, the subwoofers generate 200 watts of peak power and 100 watts of RMS. As a result, you’ll hear strong bass as well as clean, powerful mids and lows. Even better, the vehicle’s tremendous sound comes from a tiny package. The subwoofers are small enough to fit into even the smallest spaces and may be put in difficult locations. The inverted-style cone construction makes subwoofers easier to install and more robust.
These subwoofers, on the other hand, aren’t going to blow your car away with bass. Although the sound quality is adequate, some consumers want a louder output. If you’re one of them, you should consider other options. Additionally, depending on the sort of car you have, you may need to make certain changes to ensure a suitable fit. For installation, it is occasionally necessary to cut the wiring.
Infinity REF1000S 10 Inch Shallow Mount Subwoofer
- Low-profile design
- Harman-proprietary SSI (Selectable Smart Impedance)
- 89dB Sensitivity
These Infinity subwoofers provide a thunderstorm of bass with a peak power of 800 watts and an RMS of 200 watts. These can be just what you need if you’re seeking for an OEM replacement with a fantastic sound balance in your vehicle.
The Selectable Smart Impedance feature is what sets these subwoofers apart. It’s a one-of-a-kind function that allows you to switch between 2 and 4 ohms with a single button press. In addition, the subwoofers are simple to set up. They have a low-profile design that allows them to fit into even the smallest spaces, making them suitable for compact vehicles with limited room.
It’s also worth noting that the cones on these subwoofers are made of polypropylene. This ensures a strong bass response that extends down to 27 hertz. As a result, you’ll get not only tremendous bass, but also a wide variety of low frequencies.
These subwoofers, however, are not without flaws. Several customers, for example, have expressed dissatisfaction with the cone design, stating that the frame is not always firmly bonded to the box. Upon arrival, you may want to inspect your specific model. Also, be careful handling them during installation because they can easily be broken.
Rockford Fosgate P3SD2-8 8″ Dual 2-Ohm Punch Series Shallow Mount Car Subwoofer
- The Rockford Fosgate P3S series shallow mount subwoofers deliver Punch, designed to deliver big bass in a tight space, with its low profile mounting...
- The Punch P3SD2-8 is a slim 8” 2-Ohm DVC (dual voice coil) subwoofer with 150 Watts RMS / 300 Watts Max power handling and custom 10-AWG nickel...
- Featuring anodized aluminum cones and dustcaps, with a unique spider venting design to keep the motor cooler and a new hybrid stamp-cast basket...
The P3SD2 is one of the smallest subwoofers in the Rockford Fosgate Punch Series, but don’t let its little size deceive you: it packs a punch far more than you’d expect from a speaker of its size. It’s snappy and quick, and it does deliver crisp, prominent distortion-free bass — just not as much as a bigger sub. With its dual 2-Ohm voice coil design, it also provides you – and your amplifier – some wiring flexibility.
Anyway, if you want to upgrade the sound system in your car but don’t have a lot of extra room, I strongly recommend this 8-inch shallow mount subwoofer. Because I previously stated that the P3SD2 is the smallest in its series, the fact that it has a mounting depth of less than three inches – 2.66 inches to be exact – shouldn’t surprise you.
Its design has a hybrid stamp-cast basket with an anodized aluminum cone and dust cover, as well as nickel-plated push terminals. It also has a unique spider ventilation system that keeps the motor cool even when the sub is pushed to its limits. It’s not as powerful as some of the other subwoofers I’ll discuss today, with a power of 150 watts and a peak output of 300 watts. Even worse, its 82-dB sensitivity isn’t really impressive.
