These days, IEM comfort expectations are quite high, therefore it takes a lot for us to call out a certain model as having a perfect fit. The Shure SE-846, in our opinion, are among of the most comfortable IEMs on the market. The fact that they sound great also helps. Particularly, the dynamics truly stand out. These IEMs sound great for listening to movie soundtracks, and the fact that they are comfortable to wear for hours really helps.
It has three different “nozzles” that can be switched out to customize the listening experience, but perhaps more impressive are the staggering numbers: 16 Ohms, a frequency range of 15 to 20,000 Hz, sensitivity of up to 110 dB, and a sound attenuation of up to 37 dB.
Unfortunately, there are some problems with the Shure SE846s. A high-end IEM‘s cable is fussy and prone to tangling, which is never a good indication. It must also be acknowledged that, in our opinion, the appearance is somewhat reminiscent of a medical gadget. The SE-846s are the epitome of function above form because they have excellent sound quality, are quite comfortable, and are highly recommended. The Bluetooth version of these IEMs is available from Shure, but we don’t think it’s a very good option for now, so we suggest sticking with the wired version.
