Best Bose Soundbars 2022

Since its founding in 1964, Bose has been synonymous with amazing sound, and the company has expanded its speaker and headphones lineup to include soundbars. A soundbar is the best home theater system improvement you can make because it will sound better than the speakers on your TV, which must be modest due to the thinness of 4K televisions. However, they are more compact than standard home theater speakers, particularly floor standers, which can take up a significant amount of space in your room. Soundbars are one of the audio world’s true happy mediums.

In this area, Bose has a lot of options, but we’ve chosen the ones that stand out the most in terms of features, audio quality, hands-on experience, and pricing.

It uses PhaseGuide technology from the manufacturer to beam sound throughout the home, creating an extremely broad and immersive soundstage. Its ADAPTiQ audio calibration feature can be used to optimize audio reproduction based on your room. It has a fairly neutral sound profile with this option turned on, appropriate for listening to a wide range of audio content, and there’s even a bit extra punch in the bass range. It also supports Dolby Atmos content, unlike the Bose Smart Soundbar 700 with Speakers + Bass Module, but not DTS.

For dialogue-heavy entertainment like TV episodes, the Bose Smart Soundbar 900 with Speakers and Bass Module is remarkable. Dialogue is rooted in an exact, pinpoint spot in the soundstage thanks to the distinct center channel. Its neutral sound profile also aids in the clear and accurate reproduction of voices. There’s even a dialogue enhancement feature that improves the clarity of voices. It does not, however, have an auto-volume mode, which is inconvenient for people who watch a lot of TV late at night.

The Smart Soundbar 300 from Bose is the company’s latest and greatest soundbar: It’s small, supports the latest features, and in our hands-on testing, it sounded great.

This is a rather modest soundbar for its class, at 23.6 inches wide, and should fit under most TVs. It comes as a stereo soundbar, but with the addition of a Bose Bass module and a pair of surround speakers, it can be upgraded to a surround sound system. The soundbar and subwoofer have been tested, but the surround sound system has not.

The HDMI and optical audio inputs, as well as IR and Bass Module connectors, are all available on the Bose Smart Soundbar 300. These connectors are supplemented with Bluetooth and Amazon’s Alexa, making the soundbar extremely well-rounded. During our testing, we used the HDMI port and Bluetooth, both of which worked perfectly right out of the box.

These design characteristics are crucial to consider when purchasing a soundbar, but it was the sound quality of the Smart Soundbar 300 that really wowed us. It boasts five full-range drivers that fill a mid-sized room (think living room or bedroom) without having to turn up the volume. While watching TV, voices are clear, and the dedicated music mode genuinely makes a difference when you switch to listening to music.

You’ll have a terrific experience right out of the box, especially for a soundbar this tiny, but adding the bass module improves the experience, particularly if you listen to music. The soundbar’s drivers may focus on midrange and high frequencies, resulting in a better overall balance. The Bose Smart Soundbar 300 is a well-balanced option that offers a significant increase over your TV’s speakers in terms of audio quality, adaptability, and extras.

The Bose Lifestyle 650 is the company’s finest soundbar, and it’s a no-compromise choice for audiophiles. This is a 5.1 surround sound system that comes with the soundbar, subwoofer, four extra speakers, and two wireless receivers right out of the box. Although the front speakers must be wired, the rear speakers are wireless. The soundbar is 28.5 inches long, making it the longest option in this comparison; a multi-speaker system takes up more space than a stereo soundbar.

The Lifestyle 650 offers HDMI and optical audio inputs, as well as Bluetooth capability. It doesn’t come with Amazon’s Alexa built in, but you can get it by pairing it with an Amazon Echo speaker.

A surround sound system will always provide a more immersive experience than stereo, and the Bose Lifestyle 650 is no exception. The center, right, and left channels are usually built into surround soundbars, limiting the amount of depth you’d receive from placing four speakers in an equidistant space around you, which literally surrounds you with music. By employing the soundbar entirely as the center channel, Bose’s solution allows you to do just that. The Bose Lifestyle 650 is a good choice if you watch a lot of movies and want a surround sound system that won’t take up your entire room.

The Bose Smart Soundbar 700 is a premium-looking 3.0 soundbar with a distinctive design. Because of its more neutral sound profile, it outperforms the comparable Bose Soundbar 500. This soundbar features side-firing speakers that can bounce sound off your walls, creating a huge soundstage. It can become loud enough for most uses, unlike the Bose Soundbar 500, and there isn’t much compression at maximum level. Although it lacks some low-bass, the Bose Smart Soundbar 700 with Speakers + Bass Module may be upgraded with a subwoofer and satellites to improve bass reproduction.

The Bose Smart Soundbar 700 is excellent for conversations. Its well-balanced and neutral sound profile properly reproduces dialogue. The dedicated center channel also aids in the clarity of dialogue. It’s loud enough for most voice-oriented content, such as audiobooks and podcasts, which you can easily stream to the bar wirelessly. There’s also a conversation enhancement option that improves the clarity of voices and dialogue, especially at low volumes.

Bose Soundbar 500

Bose Soundbar 500 with Alexa voice control built-in, Black
  • Designed slim and engineered powerful for a better sound experience that won't get in the way of your TV screen
  • Built in voice assistants, like Alexa and the Google Assistant, with superior voice pickup from a noise rejecting eight microphone Array
  • With Wi Fi, Bluetooth, and Apple airplay 2 compatibility, you can wirelessly stream whatever you want, however you want

When utilized without the separate sub and rear satellites, the Bose Soundbar 500 is a decent soundbar. Although it may not become as loud as some other soundbars, its sound profile is well-balanced and neutral. Some people, however, may believe that this bar is lacking in sub-bass. It has problems operating at maximum level and compresses a lot, especially in the bass area, on top of not being able to reach very loud. On the plus side, the L/R drivers of this 3.0 configuration are on the bar’s side, which helps to extend the soundstage a little, but not as much as the Bose Smart Soundbar 700.

The sound profile of the Bose Soundbar 500 is very flat and well-balanced, yet without the extra subwoofer, some may feel that it lacks sub-bass. On the plus side, it incorporates room correction, which means it will sound better in your space. On the negative, it doesn’t go very loud and there’s considerable compression at maximum volume, especially in the bass area, so it’s not the ideal choice for bass-heavy genres.
