Best Audioengine Speakers 2023

Audioengine started out with two products: the A2 desktop speakers and the A5 powered bookshelf speakers. Following the success of these, we decided to expand our product range to include wireless capabilities, passive speakers, and other alternatives. If you’re visiting the Audioengine webstore these days, you might be having trouble deciding which of our fantastic goods is right for you. But don’t worry, we have something for everyone. Wireless audio is convenient, but audiophiles aren’t very fond of it. The A5+ Wireless system from Audioengine combines the features of the company’s B1 Bluetooth receiver/transmitter with the audio quality of its excellent wired 5+ speakers. The result is a wireless sound profile intended at purists, but with enough bass depth and clarity across the frequency band to satisfy everyone. It isn’t inexpensive, but for anyone looking for high-quality wireless stereo audio listening experience, it should be the go-to speaker set.

The A5+ Wireless speakers have rounded corners and a traditional bookshelf style, and are available in matte black, high-gloss white, or a natural bamboo finish. Each one is 10.8 inches tall and 7.0 inches broad. Because it holds the controls and connections, as well as a heat sink that protrudes off the rear panel, the left speaker is a little deeper than the right (7.8 inches). It’s significantly heavier, weighing 15.4 pounds vs 9.6 pounds on the right. When you first open the package, you’ll notice that the presentation is elegant: each speaker comes with its own gray velour drawstring protection pouch, as well as a smaller pocket for the wires.

The connectors are located on the rear panel of the left speaker. A Bluetooth antenna, a pairing button, a 3.5mm aux input, RCA inputs and outputs, and a connection for the banana plug wire that connects to the right speaker are all visible from top to bottom. (All cabling is supplied and removable.) A power switch, a Voltage Select switch, a fuse, and a connection for the power source are all located below them.

With its brushed metal form, the supplied remote control looks sophisticated. However, it just has four buttons: volume up, down, mute, and sleep mode. In other words, it’s a really limited remote, and you’re more likely to control playing, track navigation, and possibly even volume using the mobile device from which you stream.

The A5+ Wireless system from Audioengine provides a high-quality Bluetooth feed in a bookshelf-style physical size that eliminates dynamics-crushing DSP. Some listeners may want to add a subwoofer to the system, but it sounds fantastic without it. It’s a joy to test equipment that improves convenience without compromising sound quality. This is the Best Audioengine Speakers in 2023.

The Audioengine A1 (also known as the Audioengine One) is a small pair of Bluetooth-enabled powered stereo bookshelf speakers. These speakers are a significant departure from the common all-in-one mono versions that dominate the market, as they lack built-in Alexa and speakerphone features. There are two different speakers for real stereo separation, and there is no DSP (digital signal processing), so you can hear the audio without any dynamic compression, limiting, or EQ. This is a good solution for the money if you want precise, balanced audio from your computer or phone.

The black and gray A1 speakers measure 6.0 by 4.0 by 5.3 inches (HWD) and weigh 6.7 pounds each. There are no grille covers; instead, Audioengine opts for an exposed driver aesthetic, which we always appreciate. A 2.75-inch aramid fiber woofer and a 0.75-inch silk dome tweeter are housed in each speaker cabinet, providing a frequency range of 65Hz to 22kHz. The A1 is powered by dual class-D digital hybrid amplifiers that include much of Audioengine’s previous analog designs while avoiding any trace of DSP. The speakers are Bluetooth 5.0 compatible and support the AAC, AptX, and SBC codecs.

Audioengine has always prioritized clarity, resulting in a detailed mids-and-highs-focused audio output. Although a subwoofer would add depth and rumble, the speakers produce a classic, balanced sound signature without one. That may not be enough for listeners who have grown accustomed to the bass-forward audio of most competing speakers on the market, but it will satisfy those wanting an authentic, clean audio experience.

The Audioengine A1 speakers produce precise, balanced sound. They’ll appeal to individuals who want their music to have more clarity and detail, as well as real stereo separation. The distortion isn’t a drawback because it only occurs on tracks with extremely deep bass at maximum volume settings (and is part of the trade-off for having no DSP). The A1 speakers, on the other hand, are more compact and less expensive than all of these other options, making them a good investment for anyone who doesn’t want DSP to interfere with their mix dynamics.

The HD6 model from Audioengine is the company’s top-of-the-line, flagship model. The HD6 is a very exceptional speaker, with a wealth of features, connectivity options, and sound quality. The HD6 is a throwback to a bygone era, which is one of the reasons we adore it. That is, we are referring to the rich tones of analog sounds. Despite the speaker’s size, Audioengine has incorporated analog class A/B monoblock amplifiers into the design to give it a true vintage sound with clear tones that will fill practically any room.

Even the most ardent audiophile will be satisfied with the powerful stereo sound produced by the analog class monoblock power amplifiers. With the support of 1″ silk tweeters for crisp and clear highs, their built-in aramid fiber woofers produce sound that more than fills the majority of medium sized spaces. They also have subwoofer connectivity (available separately) if you want to augment the low end.

These audio performance, in addition to being excellent everyday speakers, enjoy being pushed. You won’t be disappointed on those nights when you want to listen a little louder and dance a little harder. The HD6s have a well-balanced tone. They have a forgiving and indulgent midrange that is excellent at producing and transmitting huge, rich sounds. These’mini-monitors’ are known for having a lot of bass in the 80–150Hz range, which can be annoying. The HD6s, on the other hand, perform admirably, maintaining a well-balanced sound.

Overall, the speakers function admirably while performing the duties for which they were built, namely ordinary listening and watching television.

Since its inception in 2013, Audioengine’s A2+ desktop speakers have been a popular choice compared to audioengine a1 vs a2+, and now there’s a new version: the Audioengine A2+ Wireless. The new speaker system looks and sounds almost identical to the old, but Audioengine adds Bluetooth connectivity so you can stream music directly from your smartphone. Black, white, and red are the three colors offered for the Audioengine A2+ Wireless speaker system.

The A2+ Wireless has a number of very outstanding features. The first is interconnection. The speakers can be used for a variety of purposes in addition to streaming music to them via Bluetooth. You can connect them to your laptop or desktop to dramatically improve stereo sound, which is ideal if you spend a lot of time on your computer watching movies or listening to music. You may attach them to a turntable using the RCA connections. You may always use the 3.5mm jack, and you can even add a subwoofer.

The A2+ Wireless from Audioengine is an excellent entry-level speaker system for anyone looking to spend less than $300. The sound is clear and precise. It can be connected to a turntable, computer, or laptop, or it can be used as a glorified Bluetooth speaker with much greater stereo separation. If you need one more reason to buy the A2+ Wireless, consider this: the best bookshelf speakers under $300 have just become a whole lot easier to use.
